PCM91 GENERAL QUESTIONS | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| All PCM91 Entries: | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Why is the right output of my PCM91 louder than the left output? | There is a slight precedence effect in the PCM91 which causes one of the inputs to seem slightly more prominent, but this varies quite a bit from setting to setting, and with the type of program material. Tweak the return level on one side to compensate. |

| I would like to store registers from my PCM91 onto a PCMCIA card. Where can I purchase one? | Ordering blank PCMCIA SRAM Cards for PCM91Following is some basic information on how and where to order blank PCMCIA (also called PC) Cards for the Lexicon PCM91 Digital Effects Processor. The PCM91 was designed to address <1 Mbyte SRAM PC cards for storing Register Banks (or user memory banks) of sounds as well as complete Setups (system configurations in control mode). The chart below gives you an idea of how many programs can be stored on different card sizes:
Additional Technical Info: Note that the PCM90 will accept 2MB SRAM cards but will format them as if they are 1 MB. Access time for these cards is 250nsec or faster. The PCM91 can use either 8-bit or 8/16-bit bus configuration. Attribute memory can be present, but is not used. Please consult Page 1-8 of the Owner’s Manual for additional information. | How do I connect to the PCM91 for a mono input? | You should use a Y cable from the source to the two inputs of your PCM91. |
| Does the PCM91 include compression? | The Concert Hall algorithm of the PCM91 includes a digital compressor which increases gain when the signal falls below the threshold that you set. |
| When copying a dat tape through the PCM91 I lose my track id numbers. Why? | The PCM81 strips all user data from the incoming data stream. You will need to reassign your track ids. |
| The PCM91 is passing digital word clock even though an analog input is being used. | When a PCM91 or 81 is being used with an analog input it generates its own word clock. The word clock will always be available at its digital output. |

| PCM91 locks up when the sampling rate changes. | Power the machine down and then back up. It should now sync to the new sampling rate. |
| How to select digital input on the PCM91? | Press CONTROL. Go to parameter 0.0. Turn ADJUST to select EXT. |
| Problem: Input meters are not even. | The Headroom meters of the PCM91 measure the overall level of the signal not just the headroom. If you want to measure the input level you will need to set the MIX control to 0%(DRY). |
| Problem: Audio cuts out until power cycled. | Try initializing the PCM91 as follows: Hit CONTROL. Use the PAGE UP or DOWN keys so there is a 1 to the left of the decimal point. Turn the SELECT knob so the display reads 1.9 SYSTEM INITIALIZE. Press LOAD. When the display reads ARE YOU SURE? Press LOAD again. The system will now be initialized. If the trouble occurs again you should contact Lexicon Customer Service in the U.S. or your local distributor in any other country and arrange for repair. |
