| Is the PCM96 compatible with Windows/PC? | Currently, the PCM96 firmware can be updated using PC; however, support for the PCM96 plug-in is limited to Mac only. Windows/PC support has been considered and additional software compatibility for PC may become available in future updates. |
| Will the Lexicon PCM96 work with Pro Tools? | The supplied Mac VST and AU version plug-in can be 'wrapped' for RTAS format using the FXpansion wrapper included on the installer CD. |
| I only see stereo or mono plug-ins or I’m missing some of the PCM96 plug-ins. | You will need to manually delete all the PCM96 wrapped plug-ins located at: /Applications/Digidesign/Pro Tools/ Plug-Ins/ The files you want to delete are preceded by VW_PCM96. After doing this simply rerun the RTAS wrapper installer included on the PCM96 installer CD. |
| I’m trying to use my own compact flash card but it doesn’t work or the PCM96 seems to lock up. | The PCM96 currently only supports SanDisk flash cards. Please use one of those. |
| How many instances of the plug-in can be run simultaneously? | The PCM96 will support firewire streaming for up to 4 mono editors or 2 stereo. A combination of 2 mono and 1 stereo editors may also be used. |
| Which recording applications or DAWs have been currently tested and supported for use with the PCM96? | Currently, the following applications have been tested for compatibility:

| In the PCM96 control configurator, when I go to PCM96 Communications, I don’t see anything in the Communication interface box. | This will occur when firewire is the selected interface but no PCM96’s are hooked into firewire. To select firewire you must have a PCM96 plugged in. |
| My Mac can’t see my PCM96 over firewire. What should I do? | Unplug the firewire cable from your PCM96, open the “system preferences”->PCM96Configurator and press the “Repair” button. Wait 10 seconds then plug in your PCM96. |
| Can I update the PCM96 from a PC? | Yes. To update the PCM96 using your PC you will first need to download and install System Architect from this website: http://hiqnet.harmanpro.com/sa_download.php Next, download the Lexicon Pro PCM96 Firmware updater from this website: http://www.lexiconpro.com/product.php?id=147#downloads Once the file is saved to your computer double click the executable to install the updater software onto your PC. Power on the PCM96 and connect it to your PC via Ethernet with a network cable. Open System Architect; go to Tools > Firmware Update and wait for the PCM96 to appear in the list; check the ‘Update’ box and click ‘Begin Update’. The update status will be indicated in the System Architect window. After the software update is received by the PCM96 it will take an additional 10-15 minutes for the PCM96 to finish processing. If the PCM96 is not recognized by System Architect automatically (which may take up to 1 minute) you will need to add the device manually. To do this go to Tools > Network Wizard > Connectivity > Add Connection and enter the PCM96 IP address (found in the PCM96 under System Menu > Network Config) in the ‘Enter Proxy Connection’ field and click ‘Add Connection’. Once the PCM96 is recognized by System Architect go to Tools > Firmware Update; check the ‘Update’ box and click ‘Begin Update’. If the PCM96 is still not recognized please see the System Architect troubleshooting section found under Help > Contents > Troubleshooting > Network; or contact Lexicon support for further assistance. |
| I’m using logic but none of the PCM96 plugin show up as inserts? | Make sure your PCM96 is connected to your Mac and shows up in the “system preferences”->PCM96Configurator. Now open Logic and go to the “Audio Units Manager”. You should see a list of all the audio units including the PCM96 ones. Highlight the PCM96 plugs and press the “rescan” button. They should all pass the scan and now be available as inserts. |
| When Logic scans the PCM96 plugin’s it reports “DRIVER NOT FOUND”? | Close Logic. Using the finder go and delete the /Library/Preferences/LexiconPro.startup file by dragging it to the trash. Now open Logic and go to the “Audio Units Manager”. You should see a list of all the audio units including the PCM96 ones. Highlight the PCM96 plugs and press the “rescan” button. |
